What is ZenTube?

ZenTube is TV-like programming made from independent creators. You decide what you want to watch before you watch it — then each night a small, finished programme is scheduled for you. Personal, but calm — a finished lineup, not an endless feed.

Why it exists

Most video platforms are built around an algorithm whose job is to keep you watching as long as possible. It learns what hooks you, then feeds you more of it — one video rolling into the next, into the next. That's great for watch time and terrible for your evening.

ZenTube flips that around. There is no recommendation algorithm chasing your attention, and no infinite scroll. You set your preferences once — topics, lengths, how fresh you want things — and each day you get a fixed number of videos. When they're done, you're done.

How it works

  1. Set your preferences on the My Feeds page — what you like, how long, how recent. Ultra simple mode takes a minute; Complex mode lets you fine-tune everything.
  2. Get your daily programme. Every midnight, a fresh set of videos appears on your Home page, matched to what you asked for.
  3. Watch them — and only them. Mark videos in progress or done in your Library. There's nothing pulling you toward "just one more".

Watching with intention

Endless feeds keep the next video one tap away. ZenTube replaces that with a finished daily lineup: what you watch is decided ahead of time, when you had the time to think about it.

Think of it less like a feed and more like a TV guide you write yourself. Old television had a schedule; you watched what was on, and then it ended. ZenTube brings that feeling back, but the schedule is built from your own taste.

Personal, but not too personal

There's no hyper-personalized algorithm here. The choices are yours: you set what you want, and your picks follow it. But they're deliberately not tuned too tightly to you.

It's a balance: some of your picks are shaped by your own preferences, and some overlap with what other people are watching too. A lineup that isn't over-fitted to you is easier to put down, and a bit of shared ground gives you and your friends something in common to talk about, the way people used to talk about last night's show.

TV-like calm, independent creators

The goal is the calm rhythm of TV without going back to a handful of big channels deciding everything. Your picks still come from independent creators all over YouTube — the people making documentaries, essays, tutorials and weird wonderful things in their bedrooms and garages. You just meet them on your terms, on a schedule you chose, in an amount you chose.
